All of it can be done in PS. I use Illustrator for lettering, but you don't need to.

Say, buddy, I'm thinking up a comic for a game, and it's a really gritty game. Would smooth lines or sketchy lines work better to fit the mood? (Mind you I'm best with sketchy lines, but can do smooth lines if need be.)

I think sketchy lines would fit the mood. Go with what you're comfortable with.

Do you know if you can pull a pencil sketch onto one of the programs and be able to ink that for a comic? :< I have problems with my hands and they shake too much for my tablet to make nice lines.

By the way, I LOVE your work! It inspires me to stop being so stubborn about drawing people realistic-like and work harder! Thank you!

You can scan your pencils and ink in Photoshop. Working on a large file and zooming in while you ink will help you get nice clean lines. But it takes practice. I've heard some folks have better control inking with Paint tool SAI. Maybe you can try that. Hope this helps. :)

I love the way you tone. I think that I'll perhaps try that. Just need to sketch the rest and ink it and then I'll get to the fun stuff xD

This really is something incredible. After drawing on pen and paper for so long with my drafting kit for panel lines and about ten thousands sheets of paper traced over for a final product, I've been wanting to transfer all that effort into an easier (hopefully!) medium. I've been wondering how it was all done, and thanks to this tutorial, I'm getting a better idea already. So thank you. Thank you very much! :boogie:

Humph...I forgot to ask, how do you stroke your path with a blank document? I tried it and the program wouldn't let me select that option...

I dunno, I have horribly high criticism of my work and continually restart over, so I can't even get an attempt done... and I can never get the panel sizes right, or they're to equally spaced, which annoys me. :ohnoes: :icongwahplz: Also, I have trouble with action in my pictures. :(

In Photoshop, you can also create a shape layer (with an ellipse, for example), enter it's path editing mode, add that second shape to it, and just set layer's Blending Options to Stroke-whatever-width-you-need. The result is flexible and duplicateable.

Thanks so much for the tutorial!
I find how other people work endlessly fascnating.

Personally, I tend to use Flash MX for everything except brush/pen/pencil analogs, so its very cool to see how you do stuff in Illustrator.

Cool and interesting for me in a technical 'behind-the-scenes' kinda way even if I'll never get to put it to use (having the approximate artistic skill of a brain damaged T-Rex).
